Alport Castles - Hike Club 10
Hike Club 10-zing ⛰️⚡
Sunday 5th July | Alport Castles
We’re celebrating Hike Club 10 with our first ever Sunday adventure — and what a route we’ve got planned.
Join us as we head into the heart of the Peak District to explore the incredible Alport Castles, home to the largest landslip in the UK. Towering gritstone formations rise dramatically from the valley below, creating one of the most unique landscapes in the National Park.
Along the way we’ll tick off 2 Ethels, enjoy sweeping views across the Upper Derwent Valley and experience some of the Peak District’s wildest and most remote-feeling scenery.
📍 Meet from 9:00am
🥾 Prompt start at 9:30am
📍 Start Location: Fairholmes Visitor Centre, Upper Derwent Valley
🥾 Distance: Approx. 15km
⛰️ Ethels: 2
📈 Moderate difficulty with some sustained climbs and uneven terrain.
There are toilets available at the start, however there are no facilities on the route, so please come prepared with plenty of water, snacks and anything else you’ll need for the day.
As always, Hike Club isn’t a race. We’ll hike together, take plenty of breaks, enjoy the views and hopefully turn a few more strangers into mates along the way.
Good for body, better for mind.
See you for our first Sunday adventure and our biggest milestone yet…
