Join Hike Club and Pioneer Mountaineering in the Lake District on 24–25 April 2027 for two days of practical training led by qualified Mountain Leaders with Outdoor First Aid certification.

Across two mountain hikes, you’ll learn route planning, navigation, weather awareness, equipment and mountain safety. There’s also the option to spend Saturday night wild camping and learn essential camping skills.

Itinerary

Day 1

Mountain Skills in Practice

Meet your qualified Mountain Leaders before heading into the Lake District mountains for the first guided hike. Throughout the day, you’ll develop practical skills in route planning, navigation, weather awareness, equipment choices and moving safely across mountain terrain.

Optional Overnight

Wild Camping

Those choosing the wild-camping option will spend Saturday night in the mountains. You’ll learn how to select a suitable location, pitch a lightweight tent, prepare food and camp safely and responsibly. Camping equipment can be hired for an additional cost.

Day 2

Navigation, Safety & Confidence

The second guided mountain hike puts your new skills into practice. You’ll build confidence navigating with a map and compass, consider hazards and changing conditions, and learn what to do in an emergency, leaving you better equipped to plan your own mountain adventures safely.
