Twilight Hike Club 5 - Thruscross Reservoir N.Yorks
Hike Club Twilight 5 – Thruscross Reservoir
Date: Tuesday 30th June
Distance: 8.5km
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Location: Thruscross Reservoir, Washburn Valley, North Yorkshire
Join us for an evening exploring one of Yorkshire’s most beautiful reservoirs and the fascinating story hidden beneath its waters.
Nestled in the heart of the Washburn Valley, Thruscross Reservoir offers peaceful waterside paths, woodland trails, and stunning views across the surrounding moorland. But beneath the surface lies a hidden story. The reservoir was created in the 1960s, flooding the former village of West End, which still occasionally reappears during periods of low water.
We’ll take a steady pace around the reservoir, stopping to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and learn a little about the fascinating history of the valley. As always, this is a social hike designed to bring people together, meet new people, and enjoy the benefits of getting outdoors.
Whether you’re joining with friends or coming along solo, you’ll be made very welcome.
Good for body, better for mind.
