Lake District Adventure Ticket
Hike Club 4 takes us right into the heart of the Lake District for a memorable winter wander starting and finishing on the shores of Windermere at Ambleside YHA — big views, iconic lakes, and proper adventure guaranteed.
This hike offers two route options so everyone can choose their own challenge, while still setting off together as one group:
🥾 Group 1 — 12 Miles - View OS Map
A full Lake District classic taking in Loughrigg Fell, a loop around Grasmere, and the incredible Rydal Caves, before finishing back in Ambleside for some well-earned food and a drink… with the brave option of a cold-water dip in Windermere for anyone feeling bold.
🥾 Group 2 — 8 Miles - View OS Map
Following the same stunning route over Loughrigg Fell and down to the lake, this option turns back before the Grasmere loop and heads on to Rydal Caves, rejoining for the same finish in Ambleside. Both groups start together, sharing the journey from the very first step.
Along the way you’ll be treated to panoramic views over two of the Lakes’ most iconic waters — Windermere and Grasmere. The longer route even passes through Grasmere village, with the chance to grab the world-famous gingerbread 🍪.
A few of us are planning to stay at Ambleside YHA on the Friday and Saturday night to make a proper weekend of it. If you’d like to do the same, just let us know — you’d be more than welcome to join us.
